Center for Jewish Life at UM
OUR MOTIVATION & PHILOSOPHY
Chabad is a global movement of Jewish education and community activism driven by the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Since 1951, the Rebbe's goal to reach out to every corner of the world with love and concern has unfolded dramatically, with over 3,500 Chabad centers in nearly 1,000 cities worldwide.

Motivated by a profound love for humanity and spurred by a boundless optimism, the Rebbe lifted the global Jewish community from the ashes of the Holocaust and guided the establishment of an unprecedented range of Jewish institutions, outreach programs, and social services. No sector of the community has been excluded—young and old; men and women; leader and layman; scholar and laborer; student and teacher; children, and even infants.

Chabad strongly upholds the belief that every Jew, indeed every human being, has a unique role to play in the greater scheme of things and is an integral part of the tapestry of G‑d's creation.
Meet the Lipskiers
Rabbi Shmuly Lipskier grew up in Crown Heights, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY. He studied in yeshivas in Manchester & Melbourne, before returning to Morristown, NJ to complete his Rabbinical degree at Rabbinical College of America. Rabbi Shmuly has traveled around the world to experience and practice communal leadership in Zanzibar, Tanzania, Byron Bay, Australia, Nepal, and cities all around America! Rabbi Shmuly’s the youngest of 8 brothers - 4 of which are practicing campus Rabbis, all in the US which gave him a lot of campus experience. His friendliness and upbeat positivity makes him the rabbi everyone wants to be around! He’s passionate about being available to the students and helping out, answering questions during their years of exploring their Jewish identity.
Mushka Lipskier was raised in Dallas, Texas where she grew up helping her parents with their community work for the Chabad Center. From a young age, Mushka was teaching in Hebrew schools and inspiring local friends to join Jewish events and take part in programs. She studied in Israel for one year, where she later returned to Dallas to continue to help out the Chabad Jewish community there. Her warmth, generous spirit and relatable personality is a guarantee that any student who walks in, for the first time or the hundredth time, feels like they’re coming home. Catch her spending time with students whilst hanging out in the kitchen, on the couch and around campus!
The Lipskiers are joined by their four adorable kids, Mendel, Doba, Dov, & Hinda who love when the students come to visit and play with them!
The Lipskiers moved to Coral Gables in 2019. They are excited to devote their lives to working with the undergrad Jewish students at UM.
The Lipskiers stand on the giant shoulders of the incredible success of Rabbi Mendy & Henchi Fellig & Family and the twenty years of work they have serviced the Jewish student community here and continue to work together to serve the UM community.
